Please ensure that you bring your licence as your own personal driver number is written on your CBT certificate.

All our instructors are police trained and our chief instructor David (pictured above right) has held a full motorcycle licence for over 29 years. He first became interested in motorcycle instruction twenty eight years ago after having a slight altercation with an articulated lorry whilst riding his FS1E! He had a lucky escape and decided that he was going to become an instructor and pass on as much safety information and training as he could, so that others were better equipped, better trained and better informed than he was when he first started riding on the road. (He had actually been riding since he was thirteen off road). He is a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM Advanced Motorcyclist) and a RoSPA gold standard advanced motorcyclist. He is also a Driving Standards Agency tested and approved motorcycle instructor.

This is where it all starts - your first time on a bike or a scooter? Are you apprehensive, keen, worried, looking forward to the challenge, thrill and sheer enjoyment of motorcycling? Maybe you want to commute in the easiest and quickest way......by motorcycle or scooter, perhaps you used to ride bikes and want to do so again, perhaps you want a scooter for college or to go out with your friends. Completing a CBT is the first step!

The CBT is training NOT a test, we guarantee that you will pass. At Gada we take great care and pride in our training, we train you to a very high standard so that you can ride well, have fun, be confident, and most importantly......BE SAFE.

CBT stands for 'Compulsory Basic Training' and consists of five elements A-E

A: Is about the CBT itself, a short talk on its origins and the reasons for its introduction, the right clothing to wear, what is legal, safe, sensible and.....what isn't.

B: Is an introduction to the motorcycle, its maintenance, controls, how to get the bike on and off the centre stand correctly and how to start and stop the engine correctly.

C: Is where, after a short period of time for A & B above you begin to ride the bike. A number of structured exercises are carried out on the training area, so that you become confident and proficient at riding a motorcycle.

D: A detailed informative talk to you about the hazards and extra care needed out on the road when riding a motorcycle, followed by the DSA official video 'What IF' - how to be seen and to be safe.

E: This is where we take you out onto the road, under radio supervision, and instruct you on the correct riding and awareness techniques that will enable you to enjoy your new found riding skills.

Once you have learned and carried out all of the above, and we are satisfied that you are a safe, careful and conscientious rider, you will receive from us at the end of your day, your DL196 - your CBT certificate, which means that you can now legally ride on the road.

All this can take up to a day to complete (dependant upon numbers attending and previous riding experience) and costs:

Only £100 for geared bikes, £85 for scooters: prices are inclusive of bike hire, helmet, gloves & equipment hire, CDW and insurances. There is nothing else to pay!
